SRK and Sanjay Dutt to come together in KJo’s next movie

The two heavyweights of Bollywood are all set for rock the show on-screen. If reports are to be believed, Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Dutt might come together for ‘Agneepath’ director Karan Malhotra’s next.

Buzz has it that Malhotra is keen to make a sequel to 2012 blockbuster ‘Agneepath’ and for the same he is interested to cast SRK and Sanju.

Talking to daily, Karan Malhotra said, “All I can say at the moment is that I do have a film in mind and it’s not a sequel or a remake. As soon as I have a clearer picture I will first tell my producer Karan Johar about it, then share it with the world.”

Dharma Productions have reportedly indicated that the filmmaker’s next project would be a rugged action film with ‘tailor-made’ roles for Dutt and SRK.

While the two actors have been very friendly off screen, it would be interesting to see full-fledged roles in a flick!

Karan Johar snubs Priyanka Chopra?

Shah Rukh Khan’s best friend Karan Johar seems to have taken Priyanka Chopra’s alleged proximity to King Khan a little too seriously.

The filmmaker who is thick friends with SRK’s better half, Gauri Khan is in no mood to sit over a cup of coffee with Priyanka on his talk show.

The latest buzz doing the rounds says that KJo has purposely omitted PC’s name from the list of guests he intends to invite on ‘Koffee with Karan’.

Talking to a daily, a source said, “Karan has prepared a list of all A-league celebs to appear on his show, Koffee With Karan, and has excluded Priyanka.”

Reportedly, Johar was waiting for his latest flick ‘Agneepath’ to hit the screens so that he could then snub Priyanka, his lead actress in 2012’s first blockbuster.

So is PC out of SRK’s camp for good?

Karan to gift new Jaguar to Katrina?

After the success of Chikni Chameli Katrina kaif seems to be the new addition to Karan Johar's best friends' list. We hear, that the filmmaker is finally going to gift her a car worth Rs. 1.5 crs.

Chikni Chameli has become one of the more popular songs in Bollwood. No doubt Katrina's item song is the biggest highlight of the film 'Agneepath'. Looking at the success of the song producer Karan Johar has decided to gift a new Jaguar to Katrina.

The news doing the rounds a few weeks ago is that Kjo was all set to gift Kat a Ferrari. Having denied the rumours, the talks are that it's a Jaguar that Katrina is going to be bestowed with this week. In the meanwhile, Katrina is currently in Cuba shooting for Ek Tha Tiger. According to an industry insider Karan is expected to gift her a Jaguar worth rupees 1.5 crores this week.

Not many know that Katrina didn't take a single penny for doing Chikni Chameli. Though Katrina and Karan haven't worked together before, there are possibilities that duo will come together for a film soon.

Karan Johar offering Kareena film to direct

After winning rave reviews for her performance in ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’, Kareena Kapoor might just be making her foray into direction. Rumour has it that producer Karan Johar will be offering Bebo a film to direct under the Dharma Productions banner.

Apparently, Bebo helped beau Saif Ali Khan on the sets of ‘Agent Vinod’. So much so, that she started taking keen interest in the process of filmmaking on the sets of KJO’s EMAET.

Speaking to a daily, a source said, "Kareena and Karan are like soul siblings. She discusses a lot of ideas with him. And she also got to be a part of the behind-the-scenes team in EMAET. It was during the shooting that Karan realised how great an aptitude Bebo has for cinema. In fact, she gave very crucial tips for revising and improving the script too.”

In fact, Kareena’s valuable suggestions were all incorporated in the film.

"Karan has asked her to get on board as a formal assistant and then eventually direct a film," added the source.

An impressed director of EMAET, Shakun Batra said, "There were at least five scenes where Kareena felt her character Riana was similar to Geet in ‘Jab We Met’.

She marked those in the script and suggested how we could change them. Throughout the film`s making, Kareena was full of sensible, intelligent suggestions."

Well, her grandfather Raj Kapoor and father Randhir Kapoor have both been good directors and if Kareena does take up direction in the near future, we will know it is her genes talking!

Filmfare Awards: Rocking evening, great moments

In an evening of glitz and good cheer, the 57th Idea Filmfare Awards 2011 were presented at the newly set up Reliance MediaWorks Studio in the sylvan environs of Film City. The nominations encompassed several films that had attempted to tread a fairly unbeaten path-Rockstar, The Dirty Picture, No One Killed Jessica, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Delhi Belly. As it turned out, Zindagi... cleared the course by winning seven trophies, followed by Rockstar with five and Delhi Belly with four. The Dirty Picture picked up three.

Ranbir Kapoor's and Vidya Balan's bold attempt to break the mould they had been cast in all along and essay roles that had darker shades-he a troubled rock star and she an unapologetic sex bomb-paid off in the form of the Best Actor and Best Actress award for Rockstar and The Dirty Picture. Ranbir's turn got him a rare double whammy with the Critics' Award for Best Actor as well. Expectedly, Rockstar swept up three music awards too-Best Lyrics, Best Singer (Male) and Best Composer for A R Rahman.

The evening began with a musical tribute to Dev Anand, with Javed Ali of Coke Studio doing a version of Dil ka bhanwar, Aise na mujhe tum dekho and Khoya khoya chand. A ponytailed Shaan, accompanied by Leslie Lewis in a ponytail, stepped up with an ode to Shammi Kapoor with Baar baar dekho, Dil deke dekho and Badan pe sitare.

This year, the hosts were a mixed doubles pair of sorts. There was Shah Rukh minus his regular partner Saif, and Ranbir sans co-anchor Imran. Still, each new permutation and combination worked just as brightly. SRK and Ranbir dropped from an aerial harness and collided mid-air as sparks flew literally. SRK ribbed Ranbir, accusing him of overacting and saying that sons of great actors seldom matched up. Ably supported by Karan Johar , Ali Zafar and former Miss India Ankita Shorey, the duo made the audience crack up with their antics.

As always, the event drew an A-list of performers whose flamboyant acts lent glamour to the soiree. Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, there was Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, who each enacted a medley of their hit numbers. Having brought their long relationship out of wraps recently, Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia, who are to get married on February 3, shortly also put up a spirited pre-nuptial tango that included a song from their forthcoming film Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya.

The hall resounded with applause when the Lifetime Achievement award was given to veteran actress Aruna Irani. Back in 1961, few would have thought that the toothy child star of Ganga Jumna, who so enthusiastically sang Insaaf ki dagar pe, would acquire pride of place in Hindi cinema as a talented actor and dancer. "I have spent 56 years in the industry and I am so happy to know that my work is respected and appreciated," she told TOI. "The charm of this award is very different from that which one gets for one role. It's rather like putting your marks in individual roles aside for the total marks of your career."

Circa 2011, a veritable annus horribilis as far as the arts and media world was concerned, saw the demise of an unusually high number of performers in the film world, from Dev Anand and Shammi Kapoor to Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Jagjit Singh, Bhupen Hazarika and many others. They were remembered through an AV.

(The 57th Idea Filmfare Awards 2011 will be telecast at 8.00 pm on Sunday, February 19 on Sony Entertainment Television)

Ajay Devgn gave away Chikni Chameli to Karan Johar

While most people think Ajay Devgn is not particularly fond of his wife Kajol's gang of friends (Karan Johar included), that's far from the truth. The star recently gave away the rights of Chikni Chameli when he heard KJo wanted it for Agneepath.

Says a source close to Devgn, "Director Rohit Shetty and he had signed on the music directors of the original Marathi song as they wanted an item song for Bol Bachchan. The song also featured AD and Abhishek Bachchan in it. Rohit was planning to approach Katrina Kaif or Kareena Kapoor for the same. This would be the first time that a Rohit Shetty film would have an item song. But everything changed when Karan approached Ajay-Atul to do Chikni Chameli for them in Agneepath."

The music duo also requested Devgn for permission to do the song with Karan instead as the film was releasing before Bol Bachchan and doing a film with KJo would mean a lot to them. "Ajay was moved by their request and immediately told them they could go ahead. Now Rohit and Ajay have decided to scrap the song from the film altogether. It was a gesture few know about, including Karan himself."

Both KJo and Ekta want a top actress for next film

It was earlier reported that Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor were coming together to make a love story with a twist and would cast the lead pair soon.

The film's leading lady is supposed to be a strong and sexy character, and both KJo and Ekta want a top actress. But there's a hitch. While Ekta is convinced that Katrina Kaif is best suited for the role, Karan feels the role needs a performer and wants to cast Kareena Kapoor for the same. Kareena has worked in many films under Karan's banner. He makes no bones about his fondness for her. At a recent event he said, "Kareena is the in-house heroine for us. Period! Everyone at Dharma is pretty much in sync with that, and that was the case with "Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu" as well. When it comes to her, the role has to be really interesting, meaty and challenging."

While Ekta respects Karan's judgement and his friendship with Bebo, she is not sentimental enough to ignore the box office. She feels Katrina works a certain magic with her luck factor, and for Ekta, that is important. Besides, she has already signed Kareena for the sequel of "Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai" with Akshay Kumar, so naturally she wants to cast Kat for this one. The decision will be taken soon. Both the producers will sit together and figure out which actress works best, and who has the dates to give them for their joint production.

Together Ekta Kapoor, Karan Johar to co-produce a film

He is known for his candyfloss movies and designer dramas, and she excels at making experimental and real life-inspired stories. Together, Ekta Kapoor and Karan Johar, once rumoured to be a couple, are now ready to co-produce a movie.

"Ekta and I are super excited about the script we are producing together... will announce details as we cast the film and title it!!!" Johar posted on his Twitter page Wednesday.

According to reports, the film will be a "love story with a twist", and it will be directed by Akshay Roy.

It will be interesting to see what Johar's Dharma Productions and Ekta's Balaji Motion Pictures will have to offer considering their different styles of filmmaking.

The rumour about Johar and Ekta's romance had reached its peak when news of their wedding started doing the rounds three years ago.

But they have been good friends since childhood, and have been looking forward to working together for a long time.

Shah Rukh and Salman were stuck together at party

Riteish Deshmukh managed the impossible by getting Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan under the same roof.

At his birthday bash on Saturday, both Khans were in attendance; they stayed at two different corners at all times and hung out with their own gang of friends. At one point there was slight tension among the guests when the two Khans tried to show their strength by virtue of the number of people standing around them. Common friend Sajid Nadiadwala, however, chose Salman over SRK. He even jumped onto a nearby table and broke into an impromptu jig with Salman!

In other news from the party, Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra were seen dancing together, while Arjun Rampal and Karan Johar kept shuffling between Salman and SRK's groups. The party went on till the wee hours with both Khans exiting around 5 am. One of B-Town's best atttended parties in recent times, we give full marks to RD's girl Genelia D'Souza for pulling it off.
