SRK and Sanjay Dutt to come together in KJo’s next movie

The two heavyweights of Bollywood are all set for rock the show on-screen. If reports are to be believed, Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Dutt might come together for ‘Agneepath’ director Karan Malhotra’s next.

Buzz has it that Malhotra is keen to make a sequel to 2012 blockbuster ‘Agneepath’ and for the same he is interested to cast SRK and Sanju.

Talking to daily, Karan Malhotra said, “All I can say at the moment is that I do have a film in mind and it’s not a sequel or a remake. As soon as I have a clearer picture I will first tell my producer Karan Johar about it, then share it with the world.”

Dharma Productions have reportedly indicated that the filmmaker’s next project would be a rugged action film with ‘tailor-made’ roles for Dutt and SRK.

While the two actors have been very friendly off screen, it would be interesting to see full-fledged roles in a flick!

Sanjay Dutt becomes dangerously expensive!

Sanjay Dutt’s ‘Kancha Cheena’ has been able to give many children sleepless nights. And apparently, with Sanju Baba charging a hefty sum of 10 crores per movie, he has extended the recipients of sleepless nights to filmmakers as well!

‘Agneepath’ shot Sanjay Dutt to a hitherto unseen zenith. And once on the peak, he is not keen on giving his hard-earned position up. Dutt’s earlier ventures used to fetch him somewhere around 5 crores a movie. After his stellar performance as ‘Kancha Cheena’ in the blockbuster, however, Sanjay Dutt has doubled his price. Affording him is no longer an easy task.

According to many viewers, Sanjay Dutt was probably the prime reason behind the success of ‘Agneepath’. Far and wide, people have been showering praises over Dutt’s menacing act in the movie. And now he has made sure that the praises don’t go in vain. At least for 10 crores a film, we hope for many ‘Kancha Cheena’-like performances from the actor!

Sky: I was shocked Salman Khan attacked me personally in Big Boss 5

Remember Akshashdeep Saigal aka Sky? Yes, the one who made headlines for taking punga with industry heavyweight Sanjay Dutt on TV reality show ‘Bigg Boss 5’!
Sky is yet to overcome his ‘Bigg Boss 5’ stint and Salman Khan’s alleged attack on him on the show.

While talking to a daily, Saigal said that he could never expect the biggies attacking him on national television. Sky had apparently shown disrespect to Sanjay Dutt and this irked Salman Khan. The flamboyant star had entered the ‘Bigg Boss’ house to give Sky a piece of his mind and show him his place. With the show over now, the TV actor still seems to be in a state of shock!

“I was shocked that Salman Khan came into celebrity home, attacked me personally, attempted to demoralise me and put me in a bad light. I`m glad that I was respectful, held my ground and maintained my dignity,” said Sky to the daily.

“I met a lot of viewers post Bigg Boss who told me that they were upset to see me being picked on by the hosts. And in hindsight I can say their victimisation of me won me many hearts and friends,” Sky added.

Shah Rukh Khan ends up taking a dig at Farah Khan

It definitely wasn't his first. But in the wake of the great slap fest at Sanjay Dutt's party, Shah Rukh Khan's witty quip about Farah Khan at a recent product event did make us sit up and listen.

SRK has attended a zillion product events till date. And he has hardly ever left an opportunity to take a dig at his rivals, both professional and personal. And of course, he did not let the moment pass this time either. On Wednesday evening, at an event, SRK did not fail to bring up Farah in his funny quip about (Surprise! Surprise!) a play station.

An eyewitness revealed, "SRK chatted with the finalists and was dancing with them to music generated by a software system. But the songs got stuck due to some technical glitches in the system. The dance was being interrupted due to the breaking sound system."

And then is when, SRK chose to crack a witty one, taking a dig at Farah Khan in the process. "SRK who was irritated with the system error said, 'Play station ko lag raha hai ki Farah iske samne dance kar rahi hai, isliye yeh bar bar pause ho jaa raha hai (The Play station perhaps feels that Farah is dancing to its music and that's why it's throwing up errors).' In fact, the organisers had to finally stop the system and the music," added the eyewitness.

SRK's funny ways is not a new phenomenon for sure. In the past, the actor has openly taken digs at Aamir Khan at chat shows and award functions. On Karan Johar's chat show, for instance, when KJo asked him what he would say to a die-hard Aamir Khan fan, SRK had replied, "Guys, find an icon you can look up to." On the same show, when he was asked the same question about Salman, SRK, had simply said, "May God bless you."

However, SRK wasn't just into taking digs at the event. While the contest entailed only the winner for a trip to Berlin, SRK, seeing the runner up in tears, agreed to sponsor his trip as well.

Sanjay Dutt turns Gujarati gangster directed by Soham Shah

Sanjay Dutt has essayed the role of an underworld don, quite successfully, in many films including Vaastav, Plan, Aatish and Jung. And now, for the first time, the actor will be seen portraying the real life gangster Sharman Munjha Jadeja from Porbandar, Gujarat. The film will be directed by Soham Shah and co-produced by Ashtavinayak. Interestingly, Shah, Dutt and Ashtavinayak were earlier supposed to work on the remake of Satte Pe Satta, which has now been put on the backburner.

The official spokesperson of Ashtavinayak Cine Vision confirmed the news and added, "We are extremely thrilled to join hands with Sanjay Dutt productions. The film will go on floors in May. After this one wraps up, we will start work on Satte Pe Satta."

Sharman Munjha was better known as the Robinhood of Gujarat. The Munjha family ruled Porbandar and other places in Saurashtra in the 80s. "Soham came up with the idea of making a film on Sharman," revealed a source close to the project and added, "Sanjay Dutt loved the idea so much, he readily agreed to produce the film as well."

According to the source, the film will also star Vivek Oberoi in one of the male leads. Chitrangdha Singh is likely to play the leading lady. Incidentally, a film Godmother has already been made on the life of Sharman Munjha's wife Santokben Jadeja earlier.

"Soham's new project will now go on floors on May 2. It will be shot in a start-to-finish schedule. It will be one of the most expensive films of the year," added our source.

Sanjay Dutt: Amar Singh advised me to rejoin Congress

Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt on Sunday claimed that his "return" to the Congress came on the "advice" of Rashtriya Lok Manch chief and former Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh.

"It was Amar Singh himself who gave me the advice that I should return to the Congress. He reminded me that owing to my family`s long association with the party, the Congress to me is like blood flowing in my veins", Dutt told reporters in Allahabad.

The 53-year-old actor also said that he was very disturbed and disappointed over the way the Samajwadi Party had treated Amar Singh. Dutt had joined the Samajwadi Party shortly before the 2009 Lok Sabha elections and, with the backing of Amar Singh, was straight-away made the party`s national general secretary.

The party had also mulled fielding him from the Lucknow Lok Sabha constituency, but had to withdraw the decision as Dutt`s conviction in an Arms` Act case ran the risk of his being disqualified from contesting the polls.

The actor`s father Sunil Dutt was Congress leader till his death in 2005. He was also the Union Cabinet Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs. Sanjay Dutt`s sister Priya Dutt is also a Congress MP from North Mumbai.

Salman is surprised find himself being dragged in SRK-Shirish fight

Salman Khan is mighty surprised to find himself being dragged in the Shah Rukh-Shirish brawl.

Apparently, Salman, who is shooting in Cuba, wasn’t even aware of the incident when it was being reportedly said that he called Shirish to show his support after Shah Rukh bashed him in Sanjay Dutt’s ‘Agneepath’ success party.

Talking to a daily, a source said, “It’s really strange how bhai’s name has gotten dragged into this. He hasn`t called anyone. Salman doesn`t even have network where he shoots. We haven`t been speaking to him often also. He wasn`t even aware of the fight... how can he call Shirish to offer support? When we called the newspaper to check about their source, we were told that Shirish told them about Salman`s call to him. But shouldn`t they have checked with him or someone from his side? Salim uncle is very upset about Salman`s name being used in this fight.”

When contacted, Salman said, “I am filming in Cuba. I am not using my phone here. I haven`t called anyone and no one has called me. If you are printing this also say hello to my mom and dad.”

Sanjay Dutt not happy with ‘Kancha’ in Agneepath

The blood-curdling, spine-chilling, terrifying bald avatar of Sanjay Dutt, aka ‘Kancha Cheena’, is a character that India can never forget. Perhaps somewhere down the line, mothers would be found scaring their children with the name ‘Kancha’ in order to make them behave properly. Such is the portrayal of sheer villainy that Sanjay Dutt has been able to give life to.

While the country and countrymen are still cringing in fear just at the thought of ‘Kancha Cheena’, and gaping in awe at the actor behind the role, Sanjay Dutt doesn’t seem to be too happy on being referred to as ‘Kancha’. His role in the movie ‘Agneepath’ was perhaps the most commendable one. The act that he put up in the movie shouts out his consummate skills.

However, recently at the success party of ‘Agneepath’, hosted by Hrithik Roshan at his Juhu residence, Sanjay snapped at photographers who had referred to him as ‘Kancha’. At the party, Sanjay had arrived at around 11.30 in the night and when he was leaving at about 2.30am, he was in an inebriated state. The photographers worked themselves into frenzy when they spotted the actor leaving Hrithik’s place.

One of the photographers then present at the spot recalled the incident to a daily, “We wanted him to pose for us, and normally we cheer for actors by referring to them by their screen names.”

Apparently, Sanjay Dutt wasn’t too happy on being called ‘Kancha’, and snapped at the photographers present there. Reason for his shocking behaviour, however, is still puzzling. The befuddled onlookers didn’t know how to react. And we’re still wondering, may be Sanjay Dutt still wants to be referred as ‘Munna Bhai’.

Bollywood has been running ‘Agneepath’ fever ever since the film hit the screens this Republic Day. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, ‘Agneepath’ has raked a whopping Rs 51.6 crores over this weekend.

Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra have been tirelessly thanking people for complementing their job in the flick and for making it a Box Office success.

Movie Review: Hrithik Roshan breathes fire and soul into 'Agneepath'

Very early in his career, Hrithik Roshan had played some intense and brooding characters in movies like ‘Fiza’ and ‘Mission Kashmir’. Although the films were major Box Office failures, Hrithik the actor, was appreciated for taking up such roles so early in his acting career. The actor became a star and slowly got engulfed in glitzy glamorous roles. After almost a decade, Hrithik comes back in the same brooding avatar in this week’s new release, ‘Agneepath’. And oh boy, he is fantastic.

The film, which is a remake of a cult classic starring Big B, has the same story line more or less but director Karan Malhotra introduces some new characters like Rauf Lala(played brilliantly by Rishi Kapoor) and minuses some old ones.

Set in a village called Mandwa, the story soon moves to Mumbai where Vijay Dinannath Chauhan (Hrithik Roshan) works for Rauf Lala and becomes an important member of his gang. Vijay’s only motive in life is to seek revenge of his father’s death from Kancha (Sanjay Dutt) and reclaim the respect of his native place, which is now Kancha’s kingdom.

When you are making a cult classic, comparisons are inevitable. But Karan Malhotra plays it safe and changes the story to a certain extend to make it a contemporary fresh film. The treatment given to the film is that of a typical masala potboiler which is high on drama, action and emotions. So you have a mother giving birth to a child in the middle of the road, the hero’s sister being assaulted by the villain and hero himself giving long dramatic dialogues in the climax scene. Sounds familiar? Well, let just say that it is flashback 80s hindi cinema.

While Hrithik takes the film firmly on his shoulder, he is supported by the film’s main baddie, Sanjay Dutt as Kancha. Sanjay gives Kancha a whole new character with his bald and almost ugly look and menacing behaviour. Dutt proves that given a good strong character, he can prove his acting prowess. Surprise package of film is definitely Rishi Kapoor. Kapoor who has always been known for his chocolate boy romantic image, takes a three sixty degree turn in this film as Rauf Lala. He is clever, conniving and very convincing.

Priyanka Chopra as Kaali, Hrithik’s love interest has a small role and unfortunately doesn’t have much to do. Hrithik, on the other hand, gives a very humane touch to Vijay’s character who is quite and brooding. Big B as Vijay had lot more punch lines and aggression which Roshan lacks.

The film is shot brilliantly and the village scenes are particularly good. Music by Ajay-Atul is enjoyable and is already at the top of all the music charts. But the film could have been edited as the first half drags and the pace only increases in the second half when Vijay meets his enemy, Kancha.

The film is not the best remake. We have seen better remakes. But ‘Agneepath’ as a film doesn’t fail to entertain. It has its moments and when you have Katrina gyrating to ‘Chikni Chameli’, how can the film be dull!

If you have gotten tired of urbane, realistic films that have been coming out off late and missing the typical commercial potboilers, ‘Agneepath’ is your answer.
