Priyanka imitates Vidya Balan

Priyanka Chopra known for her funny imitation of actors didn't spare Vidya Balan this time around.

Priyanka Chopra is one funny mimic. We liked the way PC imitated Kareena Kapoor's act from Golmaal, Shah Rukh Khan's from My Name is Khan and Salman's from Dabangg in an award show last year.

Priyanka ensured she was as entertaining a presenter for the 'Best Film' category as the famous spoof players Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani.

This year for the same award function, Priyanka has apparently aped none other than Vidya Balan!

Onlookers informed, "Priyanka and Shah Rukh posed as Vidya and Naseeruddin Shah from Dirty Picture. Vidya wore the same pink outfit of Vidya's from oo la la and danced just like her. What made everyone laugh was Priyanka's overnight weight gain! She stuffed herself to look fat on stage, like Silk Smitha!"

Spoofing nominees is not a new trend. Saif and Shah Rukh started it. Ranbir and Imran have done the same for Filmfare.

Wonder how will Vidya's fans react to this act of Priyanka's though!

Ooh La La .. Here’s the ‘Item Girl’ Vidya!

After her performance as the boombat ladki in ‘The Dirty Picture’, actress Vidya Balan is now to turn an item girl for producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Her oomph has wooed many, and now eyes are all set for her next surprise!

With ‘Chikni Chameli’ doing the rounds of megaphones and the mouths of people, we can assume that Vidya’s performance on an item song will be received with much eagerness. Apart from Balan, other popular actresses who’ve been into item songs lately are Katrina Kaif, Mallika Sherawat and Chitrangada Singh, to name a few.

Vidya’s jig will be seen in ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’, produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed by Rajesh Mapuskar. She has closely been associated with Chopra’s production house. She debuted in the Hindi Film industry with ‘Parineeta’, which was produced by Chopra.

Her ‘Lagey Raho Munnabhai’ was also engendered by the same production house. So, when she was asked to do an item number by the producer-director duo, Vidya readily agreed.

The item girl brigade turns bigger and brighter with the bootylicious ‘boombat’ Balan. Known for her zeal and dedication in the things that she does, Vidya is to offer stiff competition to the Jalebi Bais and Chikni Chamelis, it seems!

Shah Rukh wants to work with Vidya Balan

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan says he is looking forward to working with Vidya Balan.

"She is a wonderful actor. I haven`t seen `The Dirty Picture` but I will see it tomorrow. I have seen `Ishqiya` on DVD and I just loved her performance. I have also seen `Paa`," Shah Rukh told reporters.

"Apart from being a marvelous actress, I think all these girls are such huge stars. I believe girls are very hard working compared to boys. I hope I get a chance to work with her," he added.

Vidya too seemed to be thrilled at the prospect.

"Why not, I would love to work with him," she replied when asked about working with Shah Rukh.

Shah Rukh Khan is presently working on his next untitled film with Yash Raj Films, where he will share screen space with Katrina Kaif.

Vidya is busy promoting her next film ‘Kahaani’.

Vidya and her beau Siddharth to live together

Vidya Balan’s boyfriend Siddhath Roy Kapur, UTV head honcho has booked a sea facing flat in Juhu for his ladylove. It is rumored that the duo will be moving together to this new apartment by March.

"It is a sea facing apartment. It is on Juhu Tara Road. It's called Parineeta building. Sid was looking for a property. He wanted to gift Vidya a pad for herself for the longest time. After a long search, he found this property and decided to book it almost immediately. Sid is very happy with the flat. Vidya also loves it a lot. The deal happened about a month and a half back. The flat seems to have proved lucky for both Vidya and Siddharth with The Dirty Picture becoming a hit," a source informs.

The actor plans to shift by March next year. "The renovation work hasn't started yet. She has not visited the flat in the last one month. She has only informed the security that she would be shifting in March 2012”, quoted the source as saying.

The couple will soon be moving together to this new apartment. Both are basking in the joy of 'The Dirty Picture'.

Vidya was warry of parents' reaction on Dirty Picture

Even though Vidya Balan, who turned a year older today, is basking in the success of her latest film The Dirty Picture, the actress is more relieved that her parents liked her bold performance.

She went against her image to put on a cigarette-smoking, cleavage-baring act in the film inspired by South siren Silk Smitha, and Vidya says she was worried about her parents' reaction while working on the film.

"I am ecstatic with all the compliments that have come my way even though the film's release was a month ago. What touched my heart most was the acknowledgement coming from my parents.

"They said to me that within five minutes of The Dirty Picture, they forgot that the girl on screen was their daughter and instead took home Silk. It was a big relief when my parents said that since right through the film's making, I was wary of their reactions," Vidya told PTI.

While the Milan Luthria-directed film is one of the biggest successes of 2011, the first woman centric one to do such huge business, Vidya says that the film was not intended to be such in the first place.

"During the making of the film none of us ever thought that The Dirty Picture was a woman-oriented film being made. The central character was a woman but then we didn't want that to put any limitations or restrictions in our story telling."

"We believed that we all were working towards making a good film and that's about it. In fact Mahesh Bhatt said to me that The Dirty Picture showed how much respect Milan and I had for women due to which we could tread a fine line and still come out unscathed."

After the hectic work and promotions for the film, it is now time for the 34-year-old to relax a little. With the festive season on, Vidya is finally chilling out and going through all the compliments that have accumulated so far.

"Now I just want to sit back and enjoy for a while. It is so gratifying and humbling to go through all the messages from family, friends, industry and media. The phone continues to ring and that is such a blessed feeling. I felt bad that I hadn't responded to all of them but I am doing that now."

The actress is on a small break before kick-starting the promotion of her next film Kahaani, directed by Sujoy Ghosh.

'The Dirty Picture' most viewed on mobile in 2011

Thanks to Vidya Balan's oomph, content related to 'The Dirty Picture' got grabbed maximum eyeballs on the mobile platform, while controversial Poonam Pandey took away the lion's share of views among models, says a survey.

The findings have been announced by Vuclip, an independent mobile video company.

Among the most watched Indian videos on mobile, cinema-related content reigned supreme and out of them 'The Dirty Picture' was the most watched, with over 13,24,000 mobile views, said a press statement.

Content related to Shah Rukh Khan's mega production 'RA.One' garnered over 8,00,000 video views, which is almost more than double the mobile video views received by content of the much-hyped 'Kolaveri di' song from the upcoming Tamil movie '3'.

Although Dhanush's 'Kolaveri Di' was a super hit on youtube, but mobile users showed more interest in singer Sonu Niigaam's four-year-old son Nevaan's version of the same song.

Nevaan's version received over 2,86,000 video views compared to Dhanush's Tamil-English number, which just got over 56,000 views.

Among the models, Poonam who came into limelight after announcing that she would strip if India won the World Cup earlier this year, received over 100,000 mobile video views.

She pipped Pakistani model Veena Malik and Indo-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone. Veena received 18,697 mobile video views, propelled by the news for her controversial nude picture on a magazine's cover, while Sunny, who caused a flutter with her entry into the reality show 'Bigg Boss 5', got less than 2,500 mobile vi

Vidya Balan files petition to annul criminal case

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan and producer Ekta Kapoor have reportedly filed a petition urging the High Court to nullify the criminal case against them.

The police had registered a FIR against the actress for posing in an obscene way for the posters of her latest flick `The Dirty Picture`. The complaint was lodged by an advocate Sai Krishna Azad on December 17, who accused Vidya of promoting sleaze and causing embarrassment to women the Nallakunta region.

He had also accused Vidya of “spoiling the minds of the people and causing harm to the society”.

Vidya Balan wears burkha to catch audience reaction

The actress reportedly wanted to gauge the audiences' reaction to her latest film first-hand and so, she decided to don a burkha, while she sat in the upper stall of the theatre to watch the film.

However, Vidya blew her own cover, when she decided to unveil her face during the intermission of the film to talk to her father, as most of the audience had left to buy refreshments. When one of the moviegoers was returning to his seat, he spotted the actress and screamed, "Vidya Balan!". The actress had no other choice but to give the latter half of the film amiss in order to preempt the chaos of audiences gathering around her.

Believe it or not, this is the very first time that Sameera Reddy and Preity Zinta have ever crossed paths. And they couldn't appear happier to have met one another.

The two ladies were officially introduced to each other at an event in Delhi. An eyewitness at the event told us that Sameera and Preity were inseparable and giggled like two teenage girls.
