Two Gujarat BJP MLA caught watching porn in assembly

After Karnataka, a porn scandal has erupted in Gujarat. Two BJP MLAs in Gujarat were allegedly caught watching porn clips on their tablets inside the assembly while proceedings were on.

According to TV reports, the two MLAs are Shankar Choudhury and Jetha Dharwad. While Chaudhary is an MLA from Radhanpur, Bharwad is from Shehra. According to reports, a local journalist recorded the two watching porn.

The Congress has alleged that two BJP MLAs Shankar Chaudhary and Jetha Bharwad were watching the porn clips when the BJP state president walked into the assembly. On seeing him enter, they immediately changed the clips to a video of Swami Vivekananda.

The BJP MLAs have denied allegations and said Congress is trying to malign them.

The Gujarat porngate comes just a month after a similar scene was witnessed in the Karnataka assembly. Three BJP ministers - CC Patil, Laxman Savadi and Krishna Palemar were caught on camera watching a sleazy video clip in mobile phone during an assembly session.

More MLAs involved in Karnataka's porn scandal?

'The Dirty Picture' of the Karnataka Assembly is only getting dirtier. The probe report on the porn scandal, in which three MLAs were captured on camera watching porn on a mobile mobile  during assembly proceedings, is now getting delayed because the committee suspects that more than a dozen other MLAs watched pornography too.

The three BJP ministers -- Lakshman S Savadi, CC Patil and J Krishna Palemar -- who were caught on camera, have resigned as ministers, but action against them is yet to be taken. The committee, which was expected to submit its probe report on March 13, now says that it will question more MLAs. This after reports that 15 more MLAs in the Karnataka Assembly were watching Pornography when the session was on in the first week of February.

Srishailappa Bidarur, Chairman of the probe committee says, "we are checking legal parameters for that...after that we may call for them."

The three BJP leaders, who were caught in the act, met the committee for the first time today and pleaded 'not guilty'. They insist they were watching a woman being tortured as part of a documentary.

"How can I tell you what I told the committee, you know what I have been saying. I have already gone through so much pain," said Mr Palemar, one of the three BJP MLAs.

There have also been questions raised over the authenticity and seriousness of the probe since the BJP is investigating against its own party members.

The Speaker of the Assembly had appointed the committee with seven MLAs. However, it now comprises only four BJP MLAs. The Opposition has been boycotting the probe, demanding that the three members be disqualified.

Karnataka: Porngate-hit MLAs to explain their conduct today

Three Karnataka ministers, who quit over the porn scandal, are expected to furnish on Monday their replies to the showcause notice served to them by Assembly Speaker KG Bopaiah seeking explanation on their conduct.

The Speaker had on February 8 slapped the showcause notice on Laxman Savadi, C C Patil and Krishna Palemar, following their resignation a day after being caught on TV cameras watching a sleazy video on a mobile phone in the Assembly.

Sources in BJP said the party was providing legal advice to the tainted former ministers in preparing their reply to the showcause notice.

After receiving the replies, Bopaiah would decide on setting up the House Inquiry committee that he had announced to probe the issue.

The proposed six-member committee, which is to comprise two members each from BJP, opposition Congress and JD(S), had been given time till March 12 to submit its report.

Congress and JD(S) have refused to nominate members to the panel demanding the Speaker to take suo moto decision and disqualify the trio from their Assembly membership.
